- Baking soda & aluminum foil(only for uncoated silver): line a bowl with foil, place silver inside, and pour a 1:1 mix of baking soda and boiling water over it. Soak 5–10 minutes, rinse, and dry thoroughly.
- Toothpaste (use sparingly): if you try this, use a clear gel toothpaste with no abrasives and a soft toothbrush. It can wear down fine details over time, so don't overdo it.
- Silver dip (last resort): for heavy tarnish, dip for no more than 7 seconds, then rinse and dry immediately. It's corrosive and not suitable for pieces with an aged finish.
